Other Caves on Mynydd Llangatwg and in the Clydach Gorge
Eglwys Faen
There are no access restrictions to this cave, which lies within the Craig y Cilau Nature Reserve. There are
four entrances. The cave is popular with novice groups. Eglwys Faen consists of a large main passage, and
Eastern and Western Series, and an upper series of crawls - the Warren.
The only fixed aid in the cave is a ladder which gives access to the Warren.
Ogof Pen Eryr
There are no access restrictions to this cave. It offers a short but sporting trip, and contains a notorious
corkscrew squeeze near the start which is not passable to cavers of large build. The cave is almost completely
dry.
Ogof Gwaliau Gwynion
Gated access. Key available from Whitewalls by arrangement with Chelsea Spelaeological Society. This short
muddy cave has a well decorated grotto at the end.
Ogof Capel
There is now a 'dry' entrance to this cave via Ogof Gelynnen. The cave is gated and keys are currently available
from Elsie Little, Bernie Woodley and Arthur Millett. A key is also available from Whitewalls by arrangement
with Chelsea Spelaeological Society (£10 deposit required).
The cave contains some very vulnerable formations. Access is restricted to experienced cavers from bona-fide
clubs. Strictly no novices. Maximum party size 4.
Ogof Clogwyn
There are no access restrictions to this cave. Please make use of the recently installed bolts alongside the
footpath down to the cave - using a rope here will help reduce erosion.
Ogof Nant Rhin
There are no access restrictions to this cave. The original very tight entrance is currently blocked, but the
newer adjacent entrance is accessible.
There is a top entrance to this cave adjacent to Pont Gam which
connects to the rest of the cave via 3 short pitches (rope lengths 15m, 10m, 20m) but note that these have not
been bolted for pull-through. Be aware that there is a particularly constricted section below Aven D'Oznog,
also that there is no straightforward route above ground between the two entrances!
